LG: The Best Picture, Built to Disappear

LG makes the reference OLED picture, then sells it as design: a flagship that lies flat like art, a wireless Wallpaper set, a transparent OLED, an art mode, and Micro RGB for the big rooms. Here is where each belongs in a home.

LG is the brand we reach for when a client wants the best possible picture and does not want to look at a television to get it. For years that meant OLED, self-lit pixels, perfect black, the reference image every other screen is measured against, and LG still makes the best of them. What has changed is everything around the panel. The 2026 line is built as much by designers as engineers: a flagship that lies flat against the wall like framed art, a wireless set barely thicker than a phone, a transparent OLED, and an art mode that hides the screen entirely. The picture was always the point. Now the television can disappear.

The PictureWhy OLED Still Wins

Start with why we specify LG OLED in the first place. Every pixel makes its own light and switches fully off, which is why blacks are truly black and contrast looks the way nothing backlit can manage. The 2026 flagship, the OLED evo G6, pushes that further with LG’s brightest panel yet, about twenty percent brighter than last year’s G5, so the reference picture now holds up in a room with real windows, not only a dark theater. Behind it, the Alpha 11 processor handles the upscaling and tone mapping that make everyday cable and streaming look their best. For the room where picture quality is the whole point, this is still the one to beat.

Gallery DesignThe TV That Lies Flat

What makes the G6 a luxury piece rather than only a great panel is how it mounts. Its flush-fit Gallery design sits flat against the wall with virtually no gap behind it, so the screen reads as part of the architecture instead of a black box floating on an arm. Hung properly, which is where we come in, with the wiring and power chased into the wall, it looks like framed art that happens to be a television. In a great room or a primary bedroom, the difference between a TV on the wall and a TV that is part of the wall is exactly what clients are paying for.

True WirelessThe Wallpaper Set

The W6 Wallpaper set: 9 mm thin, no video cables. The Zero Connect box lives in a cabinet and the wall stays clean.

LG’s wireless OLED, the W6 Wallpaper, takes the idea to its limit. The panel is 9 mm thick, barely thicker than a phone, and carries no video cables at all. A separate Zero Connect box holds the inputs and sends picture and sound to the screen wirelessly from up to ten meters away, so the only thing running to the television is a single power lead. For a wall where you cannot bury a rack of cabling, or a client who wants nothing but glass on the wall, it solves a problem no conventional set can. We place the connect box in a nearby cabinet or closet and the wall stays clean.

Art ModeA Screen, or a Gallery

Gallery mode turns the screen into art when it is off: curated works, your own photographs or AI visuals on an anti-reflective panel.

Not every screen earns its place by being a screen. LG’s Gallery TV and its Gallery+ service let a television become artwork when it is off, drawing on thousands of curated works from museums and galleries, your own photography, or AI-made visuals, shown on an anti-reflective panel developed with curators so the art does not look like it is on a screen. With magnetic frames it finishes like a framed piece on the wall. It is the answer for a room where a black rectangle would break the design, a dining room, an entry, a study, and where the television has to earn its place the rest of the day.

TransparentThe Showpiece

At the top of the range sits the SIGNATURE OLED T, a 77-inch transparent OLED that shows a picture on glass you can see straight through when it is off. It is wireless too, so there is nothing behind it to give the trick away. This is not a mainstream television and we do not pretend it is. It is a statement piece, a screen that doubles as a room divider or a sculpture in a space designed around it. For the client who wants the thing no one else has, it is unlike anything else you can put in a room.

Micro RGBBig, Bright and Wide Open

Micro RGB scales past OLED’s size limits, up to 100 inches, with the brightness a sun-filled room needs.

OLED is the reference, but it has practical limits on size and sheer brightness, and that is where LG’s new Micro RGB comes in. Built on a mini-LED backlight with separate red, green and blue LEDs, it has a far wider color range than a normal LED set, scales past where OLED stops, to 75, 86 and 100 inches, and throws the kind of light a sun-filled great room or a media wall needs. It will not out-black an OLED in a dark theater, and we are honest with clients about that. But for a big, bright, wide-open room where scale and punch matter more than perfect shadow detail, it is the better tool for the job.

The RangeWhere Each One Belongs

Put together, the line covers a whole house. The G6 is the main-room flagship; the C6 is the one that goes almost everywhere else, bedrooms, dens, the kitchen, because it carries most of the picture for a good deal less. The W6 and the transparent T are the design statements for the rooms clients show people; the Gallery TV is for the walls where a television has to behave like art; and Micro RGB is for the big, bright spaces. LG backs the G6 panel with a five-year warranty, which matters for something built into a wall. One brand, the best picture, and a version of it for every room.

The Real WorldWho It Is For

LG is for the client who refuses to choose between the best picture and a room that looks designed. If all you want is a superb television for a dark theater, the G6 or C6 simply deliver it. But LG’s real advantage now is everything else: a TV that lies flat like art, one with no cables at all, one you can see through, and one that hangs as a painting when it is off. We specify across the line depending on the room, because the right LG is less an appliance you put in a space than a screen that finally gets out of the way of it.

Why LG

  • The reference OLED picture, brighter every year
  • Flush Gallery design: the TV is part of the wall
  • A true wireless set for the wall that cannot be cabled
  • Art mode that earns the screen its place when it is off
  • Micro RGB for the rooms OLED cannot fill

Things to know

  • The flush mount needs power and wiring in the wall; plan it before drywall
  • The transparent T is a showpiece, priced like one
  • Micro RGB trades OLED’s blacks for size and brightness
Blue Note A/V Verdict

The best picture, in the form the room needs

LG kept the OLED crown and then did the harder thing: it made the television disappear. Flush on the wall, wireless, transparent, or hung as art, there is now a version of the reference picture that fits the design of the room instead of fighting it.

Best for: Designed rooms where the picture has to be the best in the house and the screen has to look like it belongs there.
