Blue Note A/V  ·  Services ·  Networking

The one system everything else depends on.

Fast, reliable Wi-Fi that actually reaches every corner of the home — and a wired backbone underneath it, because the good stuff should never be competing for air.

What's involved

Built first, and built properly.

Coverage by design

Access points placed from the floor plan and the construction materials, not guessed at afterwards. Plaster, foil-backed insulation and stone all get accounted for.

Wired where it matters

Televisions, control processors and cameras on cable. Wireless is for people, not for the systems that have to work every time.

Monitored

Every network we build reports to us continuously, so we usually see an ISP problem before you do.

Everything else is a tenant on this

The lighting keypads, the streaming, the cameras, the thermostats and the theater processor all depend on the network. When a client tells us the system is broken, nine times out of ten it is a network problem wearing a costume. That is why we build it first and why we will not install control on top of a router the builder left behind.

Wireless is for people. Wire is for equipment

Televisions, control processors, cameras and access points go on cable. Phones, tablets and laptops go on wireless. Putting a theater processor on Wi-Fi works right up until the evening it does not, and there is no diagnosing that from the sofa. A wired backbone is the cheapest reliability you will ever buy.

Coverage is designed from the plan and the materials

Access point placement comes off the floor plan, accounting for what the signal has to pass through. Plaster over metal lath, foil-backed insulation, stone and structural steel all attenuate differently. Guessing produces the dead spot at the far end of the primary suite that everyone learns to live with.

We watch it so you do not have to

Every network we build reports to us continuously. We usually know about an ISP outage or a failing access point before anyone in the house notices, and a good proportion of what would have been a service call gets resolved remotely instead.

Common questions
Is mesh good enough?

For an apartment, often. For a large house with plaster and stone, no. Consumer mesh nodes relay wirelessly, which halves throughput at each hop. Wired access points do not.

Will this fix our internet speed?

Not if the problem is the service coming into the house — that is the ISP. It will fix the far more common problem, which is good service arriving and then being wasted on bad distribution.

What happens when the internet goes down?

Lighting, shades and locally stored music keep working, because they do not depend on the outside world. Streaming and remote access stop until service returns.

Can you work with our existing service provider?

Yes. We build everything behind the modem, so the provider stays whoever you want it to be. We will tell you if the equipment they supplied is holding you back.
