Keypads, not banks

One engraved keypad replaces five switches. Engraving, finish and plate material chosen alongside the rest of the hardware in the room.

Tunable white

Warm at night, cool at midday, tracking the sun across the day. The single upgrade clients notice most and can explain least.

Load design

Fixtures, drivers and dimming modules matched properly so nothing flickers, buzzes or dies early. Most lighting complaints are a load problem.

Retrofit is real, and it is not all or nothing

A whole-house system with a centralized panel wants to be planned before the walls close. But a wireless system that replaces the switches in the rooms you actually care about — kitchen, living, primary — installs in a finished house without opening a wall, and can grow later. Most of our lighting work in existing homes starts that way.

Tunable white is the upgrade people cannot explain

Warm and dim at night, cooler and brighter at midday, tracking the sun across the day. Nobody walks in and says the color temperature is shifting. They say the room feels right, and they cannot say why. It is the single change clients notice most and describe least, and it only works if the fixtures were specified for it. Lumaris tape light is where a lot of it starts — coves, stair edges, the underside of cabinetry — because that is where tunable white does the most for the least money.

Most lighting complaints are load problems

Flicker, buzz, a dimmer that only works across half its travel, drivers that fail early — these are almost never the control system. They are a fixture, a driver and a dimming module that were never matched. We check compatibility against the actual fixture schedule before anything is ordered, which is unglamorous and prevents most of the trouble.

Keypads are hardware in a designed room

Engraving, finish and plate material are chosen alongside the door hardware and the plumbing fittings, not from a catalog afterwards. One engraved keypad replacing a bank of five switches is a visible improvement to a wall that a designer has already worked hard on. Lutron builds several keypad families for that reason — Sunnata, seeTouch, Alisse, Architrave, Signature Series and Palladiom — across metal, glass and matte finishes, so the control gets matched to the room instead of the room working around the control.

The control network is not your Wi-Fi

Lutron runs its own radio, Clear Connect, on a band of its own rather than the house wireless. That matters on the ordinary days: the router gets replaced, the provider swaps the gateway, forty people arrive with phones in their pockets — and the lights and shades carry on. We build the data network as well, which is exactly why we would rather the lighting did not depend on it.

Engraved, backlit legends in finishes that suit the room rather than fighting it. A client never sees a load controller or a processor — they see three buttons by the door, and whether those buttons do the right thing.

The Lutron range

Lutron is a ladder, not a product

Most of the difference between a lighting system people love and one they tolerate is whether the right rung was chosen for the house. A dealer certified to the middle of the range will specify the middle of the range, because that is what they can install.

: Entry. Wireless, no panel, into a finished house in an afternoon. Right for a few rooms or a first step, and limited in how many devices it takes and how far it can grow.
: The dealer entry point — the professionally installed and programmed equivalent of what you would buy off a shelf. Whole-house wireless on a smaller scale, with Pico keypads engraved for the scenes a room actually uses. Right where the scope is genuinely contained, and a real answer rather than a compromise.
: The current generation of whole-home wireless. Sunnata keypads and dimmers, considerably more capacity, and it treats shades as a first-class part of the system rather than an afterthought. This is where most of our projects land.
: The flagship. Centralized panels, wired and wireless together, effectively no ceiling on scale, and the programming depth a large and genuinely complex house needs. This is the tier that asks the most of the dealer.
Palladiom: Not a system — the hardware. Keypads, thermostats and shade systems in hand-finished metal, meant to be seen and specified alongside the door hardware rather than chosen from a catalog afterwards.
: Full-spectrum light that moves through the day. The change clients notice most and describe least. Ketra carries a third dial beyond color and intensity — Vibrancy, which changes how color is perceived rather than what color is emitted, and it is why artwork, stone and timber read properly under it. A separate certification and a separate discipline.

Certification

Lutron Silver Dealer

Silver is renewed annually. It requires year-over-year volume targets, yearly certification, and training, testing and certification across the Lutron range — from Caséta at the entry through to HomeWorks, plus Palladiom and Ketra.

Not every dealer holds all of them. Being certified across the whole ladder means the recommendation is about your house rather than about our limits.

It also requires holding full sets of shade samples. That is why you can see and handle the actual fabrics, at the actual openness factors, before you choose — rather than picking a window covering off a screen.

Common questions

Can we do this without rewiring?

Yes. Wireless keypads and dimmers replace existing switches and need no new cable. A centralized panel gives more control and needs to be planned into construction.

What happens if the system fails?

The lights still work. Keypads and dimmers hold their programming locally, so a processor or internet outage does not leave anyone in the dark — it only removes remote access and schedules.

Do we have to use special bulbs?

No, but the fixtures and drivers have to be compatible with the dimming method. That is the check that prevents flicker, and it is why we want the fixture schedule early.

Is tunable white worth it?

In the rooms people occupy in the evening, yes. In a garage, no. We specify it where it changes how a room feels and leave it out where it would only add cost.
