The madVR Envy Core — the most accessible way into reference-grade video processing.

If you've invested in a high-end projector and the image still isn't quite “reference,” the missing piece is usually the processing. The madVR Envy line has been the gold standard for years, and the new Envy Core brings that same engine to media rooms that couldn't stretch to a Pro or Extreme.

The ProductmadVR Envy Core

The Envy Core runs madVR's dynamic HDR tone-mapping, analyzing every frame in real time so highlights stay bright and shadow detail survives — no matter how the content was mastered or how bright your display gets. It also delivers best-in-class upscaling of HD and streaming content, detail enhancement, and automatic aspect-ratio management with non-linear stretch to fill a 2.35:1 screen without distorting the center of the image. Powering it all is an Nvidia 4060 GPU in a compact 2RU chassis — the smallest Envy yet.

On the screen

Drop it into a calibrated projector system and the difference is immediate: cleaner motion, richer HDR pop, and none of the crushed shadows or blown highlights that plague static tone-mapping. Because it's IP-controllable, we can dial it in — and remotely re-calibrate it — long after the install is done.

The Real WorldWho This Is For

The Core is for anyone with a serious projector — a JVC, Sony, or Epson — who wants the last 20% of picture quality the display alone can't deliver. If you're building a dedicated theater or a high-end media room where video matters as much as audio, this is the entry point that used to cost twice as much.

What we love

  • madVR's flagship tone-mapping engine
  • Best-in-class 4K upscaling
  • Automatic aspect + non-linear stretch
  • Compact 2RU chassis
  • We install and remotely calibrate it

Keep in mind

  • Needs a capable display to show its worth
  • Video only — no audio processing
  • Best results require professional calibration
Blue Note A/V Verdict

The smartest value in home-cinema video

The Envy Core delivers the picture-quality leap madVR is famous for at a price that finally makes sense for premium media rooms — not just cost-no-object theaters. Paired with a good projector and a proper calibration, it's transformative.

Best for: Serious projector owners who want reference HDR and upscaling without stepping up to the Pro or Extreme.
