AMP Lighting: Brass Built to Last Outdoors

AMP Lighting is professional-grade, solid-brass landscape lighting: fixtures made to spend decades in the weather, now with color-tunable control and even outdoor audio. Here is the range, and where each piece belongs in a yard.

Done right, landscape lighting makes a house look better at night than by day. Facade, trees and path, layered together.

Outdoor lighting lives or dies on what it is made of. The kits sold at the big-box store look fine the week they go in and are pitted, dim and half dead a season later, because aluminum and plastic do not survive sprinklers, salt and sun. AMP Lighting is the opposite bet. It is professional-grade, solid-brass landscape lighting built to spend decades in the weather and keep working, sold to certified professionals rather than off a shelf. It is a line we build with because the fixtures are the one part of a landscape design that has to survive everything the yard throws at them, year after year.

Brass, Not PlasticWhy It Lasts

Start with the metal, because it is the whole point. AMP fixtures are cast from solid brass, with stainless hardware and glass lenses, materials that will not bend, break or corrode the way painted aluminum and plastic do outdoors. Brass also ages well, weathering to a living patina instead of flaking apart. AMP backs the fixtures with a lifetime warranty, which tells you how long they expect them to hold up. For a fixture buried in a flower bed or bolted to a stone wall, where no one wants to dig it out and replace it, that durability is not a luxury. It is the reason to spend more once instead of a little every couple of years.

UplightingTrees, Walls and Architecture

A Mediterranean-style villa at night with brass spotlights grazing the facade and uplighting a tall palm
Uplighting is the drama: brass spotlights graze the architecture and throw a specimen tree into relief.

The most dramatic thing landscape lighting does is push light up. AMP’s PinnaclePro spotlights are the workhorses here, adjustable brass bullets that graze a stone facade, throw a specimen oak into silhouette, or light a column from below. For broad surfaces, the EquaPro wall washers lay down an even, diffused sheet of light across a wall or a hedge. Used well, uplighting is what turns a house that vanishes at sunset into one that looks better at night than it does by day. This is where we spend the most time aiming, because a degree or two of tilt changes the whole effect.

The Ground GamePaths, Steps and Hardscape

A lit walkway at night with low hardscape lights washing the path and the edge of a wall
The ground game: path and hardscape lights make a property safe to move through and make the stonework look intentional.

Down at ground level, lighting earns its keep twice. It makes a property safe to move through after dark, and it makes the hardscape look intentional. AMP’s MagnumPro and SummitPro path lights are solid-brass fixtures with glare shields that pool light on a walkway without blinding anyone, and the hardscape and deck fixtures tuck into steps, walls and deck posts to graze stone and define an edge. These are the lights guests never consciously notice and would miss immediately if they were gone, the quiet layer that makes an outdoor space actually work at night.

Hidden LightWells and Underwater

A backyard pool lit from within at night, with uplit palms and plantings around it
Waterproof well and underwater fixtures light pools, fountains and ponds: all effect, no visible hardware.

The best landscape lighting is often the light you see without seeing the fixture. AMP’s HydraPro well and in-grade lights sit flush with the grade, so an uplight on a tree or a column comes from a brass housing you can walk over and never spot in daylight. The same waterproof line goes fully submersible for fountains, ponds and pool walls, where it turns moving water into something to look at after dark. It is the most architectural way to light a landscape, all effect and no visible hardware, and it is exactly where a designed system pulls ahead of a row of stake lights from a box.

The System Behind ItTransformers and Zones

None of these fixtures work without the part no one sees: the transformer. AMP’s low-voltage transformers step household power down and run from 50 watts to 1,200, with multi-tap outputs, photocells and astronomic timers so the system comes on at dusk and off on schedule without anyone touching it. The multiple voltage taps let us hold brightness steady across long cable runs, and zoning lets different areas, the entry, the trees, the pool, behave independently. This is the backbone we design first, because a landscape that will grow over the years needs the power and the headroom planned in from the start.

Nobody admires a transformer. It is still the first thing we size, because a yard that grows needs headroom in the box.— Blue Note A/V

Smart and TunableAMP iQ and Symphony

The same stucco estate at night lit in red and green for the holidays by color-tunable landscape fixtures
With AMP iQ the same fixtures tune to any color on command: warm white most of the year, holiday red and green for a week in December.

Landscape lighting used to be one warm color that came on at night, and that was it. AMP iQ changes that, with full RGBCW color control from an app: the same fixtures run a quiet warm white most of the year and turn team colors, holiday reds and greens, or a soft blue for a party on command, with scenes and schedules built in. AMP also extends the system outdoors with Symphony, its line of landscape speakers, so one visit can light a yard and wire it for sound at the same time. For a client who already runs the house from a phone, having the garden join in is the natural next step.

The Pro’s BrandWhy We Build With It

AMP is deliberately not a brand you can buy at a store. It sells wholesale to certified AMP pros, with design and layout support behind it, which is why the value holds up: commercial-grade fixtures at a fair price, with no retail markup in the way. For a client it means a system that is designed, installed and warrantied by a dealer rather than assembled from a kit, with fixtures that can be serviced and added to for years. Where a yard is getting audio and lighting on one cabling system we reach for Coastal Source; where the job is lighting first and the fixture catalog matters, AMP is the brass we trust to still be working.

The Real WorldWho It Is For

AMP Lighting is for the homeowner who has invested in their property and wants it to look as good at night as it does in daylight, and wants the lighting still working a decade from now. It is more than a weekend kit, by design: the fixtures cost more because they last, and the system is built around the house rather than scattered across it. For a yard worth lighting properly, the trees, the hardscape, the water, the architecture, it is a brass-and-glass foundation, and the rare part of an outdoor project you only have to do once.

Why AMP

  • Solid cast brass with a lifetime warranty
  • A full catalog: spots, wash, path, hardscape, wells, underwater
  • Transformers from 50 to 1,200 watts with photocells and timers
  • AMP iQ color control from the phone
  • Symphony speakers on the same visit

Things to know

  • Sold to certified pros only; not a retail kit
  • Brass costs more up front; the value is in the years
  • The design is the product: aiming and zoning decide the result
Blue Note A/V Verdict

The brass we trust to still be working

Landscape lighting is a materials problem first and a design problem second. AMP solves the first with solid brass and a lifetime warranty, and leaves the second to the people aiming the fixtures. For a lighting-first yard, that is the right order.

Best for: Properties worth lighting properly, where the fixtures have to outlast the landscaping around them.
